1:48 Balkans 1993-99

A decal sheet on the subject of the Balkans, 1993 to 1999

A set of water-slide decals in 1:48 scale from the Czech publisher DP Casper. It is intended for a plastic aircraft model that is already built and it covers one of the most closely watched periods of modern European history, the break-up of Yugoslavia and the international air operations over Bosnia and over Kosovo.

The period the sheet belongs to

In the 1990s the sky over the Balkans turned into an unusually varied parade of equipment. Machines of the local air forces in older green and brown finishes met aircraft sent by allied states that already wore gray low-visibility camouflage. There was flying over the no-fly zone, on reconnaissance and on strikes against ground targets. It is precisely that coexistence of two worlds of color that makes this subject rewarding material for modelers.

How to work with the decals

• Clear-coat the spot under the decal with a gloss varnish, otherwise silvered edges will appear.
• Cut the motifs out as closely as possible so that no clear carrier film is left unnecessarily.
• Use lukewarm water and a soft brush, and settle the decal with a decal softener.
• Seal the finished markings with a matte or semi-gloss varnish.

Who the sheet is useful for

• Modelers who build modern combat aircraft in 1:48 scale.
• Anyone interested in the conflicts of the 1990s and their air dimension.
• Anyone who wants to give a finished model markings other than those the box offered.
