Eduard masks for the glazing of a Douglas A-1J model in 1:48 scale. The basic variant for the outer side of the canopy, an accessory to a plastic kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
Pre-cut self-adhesive masks for the glazed areas of a model of the Douglas A-1J attack aircraft in 1:48 scale from the Czech manufacturer Eduard. In extent this is the basic variant of the set: the masks are intended for the outer side of the glazing. Anyone who needs to cover the inner surface of the canopy as well should look for the variant designated TFace, which the manufacturer carries as a separate item. This is not a model but an accessory to a kit.
The Douglas A-1 Skyraider was a single-seat attack aircraft with a radial piston engine. The A-1J form is among the late single-seat production versions of a type that kept its role even in the age of jets, thanks to its endurance and to the load of external stores it could carry. The cockpit has a sizeable canopy with pronounced frames, so the painting of those frames is clearly visible on a model.
Wash and degrease the glazing. Lift the masks with tweezers or the tip of a scalpel, lay them on dry and press the edge down with a toothpick. Before painting the outside it pays to spray the clear areas with the interior shade from within; with a single-sided set you have to define the inner edge yourself, with a thin strip of tape for instance. Paint thinly and take the tape off immediately once the paint has flashed off.
The package holds the masks alone. The kit, paints and glue are not part of it.
