Quickboost 1:48 A-26 Invader – gun turret type 2 is a resin replacement for the defensive turret for a model of the Invader in 1:48 scale. A detail accessory for a kit, not a model of the aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin casting of the gun turret in 1:48 scale, intended as a replacement for the part from the base plastic kit of the Douglas A-26 Invader aircraft. The designation type 2 tells the configurations of the turret apart – a turret for the later B-26 machine is a separate item as well. It is not a kit but a separate detail part. The exact extent of the casting and the number of parts are not stated here.
The Douglas A-26 Invader was a twin-engine attack and light bomber aircraft, which in the later period was designated B-26. Remotely controlled turrets on the spine and on the underside of the fuselage served to defend the rear hemisphere; their configuration differed between individual batches and later alterations, which is why makers of accessories offer several variants.
The turret is visible both in profile and from above, so it pays to spend time on the mating surface. Wash the casting with detergent, cut the casting block off and sand the surface back wet on a flat base – otherwise the turret will sit crooked on the fuselage. Sand with protection for your airways and glue with super glue. The machine gun barrels are thin and break: if they are part of the casting, leave gluing them until the very end, or replace them with tubing. Paint the turret separately and glue it to the fuselage once the camouflage is finished, so that you do not have to mask laboriously around it.
The set is an accessory for a kit, not a model in its own right. It is supplied unpainted, and paints and glue are not included in the package.
