The Douglas A-26 Invader was an American twin-engine attack aircraft with a glazed cockpit set high above the nose. Version B had a solid nose without glazing. The cockpit was fairly roomy and thanks to the large glazed area it is clearly visible on the model, which is the main reason it pays to add realistic belts here: the plastic in this area is necessarily simplified, or the belts are suggested only in relief on the seat.
Steel belts have the advantage over brass ones that they hold their shape once formed and look naturally slack. Cut them off with a scalpel, hold them with smooth-jawed tweezers and form them gradually over the edge of a round object. Remove grease from the seat before gluing. Apply cyanoacrylate glue in a truly minute amount, otherwise it creeps into the print and marks the surface. Do not spray the pre-painted parts with opaque paint; realism is improved only by a weak dark wash into the folds and a final matting. Fit the set before the fuselage and the cockpit are closed.
