An add-on set from Eduard's LööK line, the Czech maker's range of instrument panels. This one is for a model of the Japanese Nakajima A6M2-N Rufe floatplane fighter in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit or a finished model but a replacement for the part from the box by a more accurate accessory. On aircraft models the cockpit is the first thing anyone examines, and it is exactly the instrument panel that decides whether it looks convincing.
The Nakajima A6M2-N came about by converting the Mitsubishi A6M2 Zero carrier fighter into a floatplane. A large central float on struts was added under the fuselage and two auxiliary ones under the wings. The aircraft was meant to provide fighter cover from the water in places where no runway was usable. At the price of versatility it lost part of its speed and agility, so against land-based fighters it was at a disadvantage.
Carefully cut or sand away the original instrument panel from the kit so that the new part sits at the right depth. Try the fit dry until the part seats without pressure. Glue it in spots with a low-odor cyanoacrylate glue or with a glue intended for photo-etched parts, as ordinary cement for plastic does not hold on a part of this kind. Photograph the cockpit before closing the fuselage, because once the halves are glued you will no longer see the panel. Fit the glazing right at the end and glue it with a cement that does not fog clear parts.
It is an accessory for a model, not a kit. The model itself, paints and glue are not included in the package.
