A masking set for spraying the frames of the cabin of the Bell AH-1G Cobra in the early production form, scale 1:48. The qualifier Early in the name is not decoration: it decides which kit the set will fit.
The Cobra was produced for a long time and the individual batches differed in details that carried over into the shape and division of the glazing as well. Modelers know it from practice - a set cut for a later form will lie on an early kit, but the edge diverges by tenths of a millimeter, and that is exactly the difference between a frame that looks like a frame and a frame that looks like an oversight. That is why the manufacturer keeps the early and the later form as separate sets and why it pays to buy the one that corresponds to the box on your table.
Before you reach for the paint, lay the key masks on the clear part dry and look against the light to see whether the edge sits in the molded engraving of the frame. When it does, you can go on: degrease the part, press the masks down from the center outward and only then spray. The proven procedure is to spray the shade of the interior or a dark base first, let it go tacky and only after that the top color of the airframe - the edge then holds even in the place where two colors meet.
