A double-sided masking set for a model of the Alpha Jet aircraft in 1:48 scale, prepared for the Kinetic kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Alpha Jet is a two-seat jet aircraft created through French and German cooperation as a trainer, and during part of its service it also served for light combat duties. It entered service in the second half of the 1970s and, besides European operators, a number of overseas air forces took it on. It is best known in the colors of the French display team, which flies it to this day, and it is precisely the varied schemes that make a model of this type a rewarding opportunity for careful masking.
It is a masking set in 1:48 scale for the Kinetic kit, in the double-sided version: the masks are prepared for the outer and for the inner side of the glazing, so the cockpit frame can be painted from both sides and will not stay transparent when looking into the cockpit. The scope of the set and the recommended way of fixing the masks are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The masks are placed on clean, degreased glazing before spraying, not after it. Seat each part with tweezers and press the edges down carefully with a toothpick or a wooden stick so that no paint runs under them. Spray thin coats and direct the stream at right angles to the surface; spraying at an angle easily lets paint get under the edge of the mask. Once the paint is dry, lift the masks carefully, best of all with bent tweezers and by pulling across the edge of the frame rather than straight off the surface. Finally check the glazing and remove any small overruns with a toothpick.
The set is for modelers who want the cockpit frame sharply bounded and do not want to shape masks from tape. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
