The miniature 1:48 Animals Serie - Horse No.2 offers a second variant of a horse and, with the first of the pair, makes it possible to build a team in harness or a paddock.

Number two complements its sibling variant so that two animals side by side do not look like an impression of one shape. There are two ways to use that in a scene: either you put the pair into one harness, or you separate the two animals and set each into a different corner of the base, where it will hold its part of the composition.
A harnessed pair needs the heads at the same height and the gaze in the same direction, or it looks uneasy. Free-standing animals, on the other hand, should look relaxed; one can lower its head to the ground while the other stands upright. In a pasture it pays to suggest a trampled patch around the legs, because a grassy surface is always trodden down to the soil where an animal stands.
Two animals side by side stand out when you give them a different coat color. A proven combination is a dark chestnut and a light gray horse with graying transitions; a third possibility is a piebald pattern, but that calls for patient masking of the boundaries. Finish the hooves, the mane and the tail at the very end, when you already know the final lightness of the body, or you risk the colors overpowering one another.
