A detail set from the Czech maker Aires in 1:48 scale. It is not an aircraft model but a resin accessory: landing gear bays in cast resin, as a rule with a little photo-etch. A gear bay is the space in the airframe into which the landing gear retracts and which is clearly visible on a finished model.
The set replaces the shallow plastic bays with faithful castings full of the dense structure of ribs, wiring and hydraulics. The AV-8B Harrier II is an American attack aircraft with vertical takeoff and landing; its landing gear has an unusual tandem layout. The set is intended for the plastic kit from Hasegawa. Check the exact contents of the package and the number of parts on the packaging of the set.
Separate the parts from the casting blocks, wash them to remove mold release residue and degrease them. The space in the plastic usually has to be sanded out so that the resin bay seats properly. They are bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate); count on fine-tuning the fit. Wear a respirator when sanding resin.
An accessory for a kit, not a stand-alone model. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted; the kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
