This set from the Brassin line by the Czech maker Eduard is not an aircraft model but a detailing resin accessory. It replaces the wheels from a plastic kit with faithfully rendered resin wheels with a realistic tire pattern and hub detail. The wheels are usually cast with a slightly flattened contact patch so that they look weighted. A mask for easy separation of the hub from the tire while painting is usually part of the set. The set does not include the aircraft kit.
The Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress is an American four-engine heavy bomber of the Second World War, famous for its daylight raids over Europe. Its main landing gear wheels carried the full weight of a heavily loaded machine.
Wash the resin parts to remove mold release residue, cut them off the casting blocks and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Wear respiratory protection while sanding. Spray the tires in a matte dark gray and bring out the hub with a metallic or a color shade; the mask that is included makes a clean transition easier.
This is an add-on resin set, not a standalone model. Glue, paints and the aircraft kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
