1:48 B-17G Flying Fortress (Early) Canopy, Windows And Wheels Paint Mask Set deals with the glazing frames, the little windows, the turrets and the wheels of the early Flying Fortress.
Responsibility details are not available.
Two sheets of masks cover the most laborious parts of the model: the frames of the canopy, a row of variously shaped little windows, the glazing of the gun turrets and with them the tires and hubs. Both the outer and the inner side of the clear parts are dealt with by them.
A four-engine bomber has more glazed areas than any fighter and hardly any two are the same. On the injected frames there also tend to be several renditions of the turrets, because the kit covers different production blocks, and the masks allow for all of them. Cutting tape by hand for every little frame takes hours and a single scratch with a knife devalues a clear part permanently.
First wash and degrease the clear parts, stick the stencils on before gluing them into the fuselage and spray the frames first with the interior shade. Only after drying does the exterior finish follow, so that the frame is correctly colored from both sides. The discs on the wheels separate the tread from the hub and save laborious tracing with a brush. Cover the free areas of glazing between the frames with an offcut of tape, so that overspray does not get inside. Take the mask off shortly after spraying, while the adhesive is still pliable.
The purchase includes only the pre-cut masks.
