This is a set of self-adhesive masks from the Art Scale brand for a plastic model of the twin-engine Douglas B-26C-50 Invader bomber in 1:48 scale. The masks are supplied pre-cut to shape, so there is no cutting out of masking tape with a knife, and they are stuck straight onto the clear part, that is onto the glazing of the model. This set is the double-sided form; the single-sided variant of the same type is a separate item. The set is cut for the ICM kit; on a model from another maker it need not fit.
The Douglas Invader was an American twin-engine attack bomber that entered service at the close of the Second World War and served long afterwards. The original designation A-26 was changed to B-26 at the end of the 1940s, which is occasionally confused with another, older type of the same number. The version with the letter C has a glazed nose for the navigator and bombardier, unlike the form with a solid gun nose. It is precisely the glazed nose, together with the glazed cockpit and the turrets, that makes this model one of the more demanding masking jobs.
Wash and degrease the glazing. Carry the mask over with tweezers, lay it down dry and press the edges with a toothpick so that no paint runs under them. With double-sided masking, settle the inner face and the shade of the frames inside first, and only then glue the clear parts into the fuselage and paint from the outside. On the large glazed nose, work panel by panel and do not hurry. Take the mask off at a shallow angle as soon as the paint is dry to the touch.
This is an accessory for a model, not a kit. The model itself, paints and glue are not included in the package.
