The B-26 Marauder is an American twin-engine medium bomber of the Second World War. A slender fuselage and a relatively small lifting area made it a fast machine, but one more demanding to fly than other bombers of its day; the versions designated with the letters F and G therefore received an altered wing incidence angle, which made the behavior on takeoff and landing easier. The aircraft has extensive glazing, from the glazed nose through the pilot's cabin to the gunner's positions.
Spraying the glazing frames with a brush is tedious and a straight edge rarely comes out. The masks turn the problem around: they cover the clear fields and leave only the frames exposed, which you then spray in the same color as the rest of the model. The transition between the frame and the glass thus comes out sharp and straight, and the frames have the same shade and surface texture as the areas around them. On this type a particularly large amount of work is saved, because the model has a great many glazed areas.
The masks are applied before spraying, to clean, dry and degreased glazing. Lift the piece off the backing with tweezers, seat it along the frame and press the edges down firmly so that the paint does not run under them. Spray thin coats; one heavy coat likes to run under the edge of the mask. Remove the mask shortly after the paint has dried, not after a longer time, when the adhesive holds more firmly and there is a risk of tearing the paint off. The remaining adhesive can be wiped away with a damp cloth.
The set is for anyone who builds this model and wants the glazing clean. The model, paints and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
