A resin set of engine exhaust nozzles for the Jaguar in 1:48 scale from the maker Reskit. It is a replacement part for a plastic kit, not a model of the aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
An aftermarket accessory for modelers building the British-French Jaguar ground-attack aircraft in the larger 1:48 scale. The set replaces the jet engine exhaust nozzles from the box with resin parts that have a thin wall and a well worked-out inside. A model of the aircraft is not included.
The larger the scale, the less it forgives simplification. In 1:48 scale a nozzle has a diameter at which the thickness of the trailing edge is obvious at first glance, as is whether there is structure visible inside or just a smooth tube. The set deals with that in one part instead of laboriously thinning down plastic. The bonus is in the painting: a deeper channel lets you create a real shadow inside the nozzle, which on a shallow plastic part never appears.
Before building, wash the parts in warm water with a little detergent because of the mold release agent. Cut the casting block off with a saw, level the face on sanding paper laid on glass and protect your breathing while sanding. Cut off the original nozzles from the kit, clean up the opening and try the set dry before you close up the rear of the airframe. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue, ideally the gel kind, which gives you time to position it. Begin the painting with primer, then spray a darker metallic shade, mute the inside with a sooty color and build the outer heat staining up in transparent layers. Finish with a fine wash into the engraved lines and a matte varnish.
This is a resin accessory set, not an aircraft model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
