A decal sheet for a model of the Bell AH-1G Cobra combat helicopter in 1:48 scale, part one. It adds markings to the model based on the data from the maker of the sheet.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Bell AH-1G Cobra was the first production combat helicopter in the world and it made its name in Vietnam. Against the armed machines used until then it had a slender fuselage with the crew seats one behind the other, stub wings with racks for rocket pods, and it landed on skids. The slim silhouette and the colorful markings of individual machines are exactly what make the Cobra a rewarding subject, one where the decals decide the final impression.
Decals for an AH-1G model in 1:48 scale, marked as the first part of a series. Which particular machines the sheet covers, how many schemes it offers and exactly where the individual items belong are described in the enclosed instructions.
The undercoat has to be smooth and glossy, so varnish the model with a clear gloss varnish before applying them. Cut the item out close to the edge, dip it in lukewarm water for a few seconds and let it rest until it starts to slide on its backing. Carry it to the model with a soft brush and blot the excess water away with a cloth. On riveted areas and in transitions a decal softener helps. Once dry, even the surface out with a matte varnish. Watch out for items that run over the edge of a stub wing or over protrusions on the fuselage; leave those for last and take your time.
Before you soak the sheet, check in the instructions whether it is not a self-adhesive version; a soaked self-adhesive film is ruined beyond saving.
The package holds a decal sheet. The model, the paints and the varnishes are not included, unless stated otherwise.
