The smallest of the photo-etched accessories that Eduard offers for this helicopter in 1:48 scale. The set contains seat belts for the cockpit, etched from steel and already printed in color, so they are glued on straight away. Steel sheet differs from brass in how it behaves: it is springier and holds the shape you bend it into better, which with belts is exactly what you need so that they drape over a seat and do not spring back flat. If you are looking for a wider addition to a model, reach for the pre-painted cockpit set or for the full photo-etched set. This item deals with a single but highly visible place.
The Bell OH-13 Sioux is a light piston-engine helicopter with a spherical glazed cabin, an exposed lattice tail boom and a two-blade main rotor. Because of the glazing, the inside of the cabin is practically all visible on a model, including the seats. Plastic kits either do not contain the belts at all or have them only suggested as relief on the seat, which looks flat on a finished model.
Separate the parts with a scalpel on a hard surface, as steel is harder than brass and tears badly by hand. Before gluing, shape the belts over a rounded object such as the handle of a pair of tweezers so that they have a natural sag. They are glued with a drop of cyanoacrylate applied with a pin, and the glue does not belong on the printed surface. Bend the buckles with flat-jawed tweezers. Do not clean the pre-painted print with alcohol or thinner. If you want to match the color with the interior, very fine drybrushing along the edges is enough rather than spraying over the whole area.
