The Bf 108 was an all-metal single-engine low-wing aircraft with a four-seat cabin and retractable landing gear, used as a touring and liaison aircraft. In design it preceded the later fighter types of the same marque and shares a number of solutions with them. The model has smooth surfaces and extensive glazing, so every inaccuracy in painting shows on it.
Masking material sticks best at ordinary room temperature. In a cold workshop the adhesive stiffens and the mask is merely laid on without bedding down; in heat, on the other hand, it holds so well that it leaves residue behind when removed. If a sticky film is left on the surface, wipe it away with a cloth lightly moistened with a degreaser that is gentle on paint, not with an aggressive solvent. Small stretches of the edge that have not stuck down can be fine-tuned with the tip of a toothpick; you do not need a scalpel for that.
