A die-cut self-adhesive Eduard masking set in 1:48 scale for spraying the camouflage scheme of the German Messerschmitt Bf 109G fighter. It is not a kit or a model in its own right but a set of shaped masks in thin yellow masking tape (kabuki) that covers the disruptive camouflage and the mottling in the form typical of production at the Erla plant (Erla Maschinenwerk, Leipzig).
The Messerschmitt Bf 109G, nicknamed the Gustav, was the most widely built version of the German Bf 109 fighter in the Second World War. It was produced at several plants, and the individual factories differed in the style of the camouflage spray and of the mottling on the fuselage. Machines from Erla production were marked by a characteristic mottling style and an unmistakable camouflage pattern. The standard scheme was made up of the upper shades RLM 74 and 75 over the lower RLM 76, completed with mottling on the sides of the fuselage.
First spray the base, lighter shade of the camouflage and let it dry. Then apply the masks exactly according to the enclosed instructions and spray over them with the darker shade. Lay the paint on with an airbrush in thin layers so that it does not creep under the edge of the mask. Once dry, peel the masks off carefully at an acute angle.
The package contains masks only. The model, paints, glue and decals are not included, unless stated otherwise.
