A small accessory in 1:48 scale from the 49A modeling series. It represents a box. It is exactly such small things that set a model on display apart from a finished scene: without them a vehicle and a base alike look empty. The accessory stands on its own and is not tied to one particular kit.
Boxes are stowed on beds and trailers, stacked up at firing positions, carried on fenders or placed around the surface of a diorama. In 1:48 scale this is a fairly small part, so a clean silhouette and restrained wear pay off more than overdone detailing; in groups of two or three the boxes look more natural than standing alone.
First seat the part dry and check that it lines up with its surroundings. Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little way from the part and carefully sand the rest back. Before painting, wash and degrease the surface and let it dry completely. Lay the paint down in thin coats and leave the shading and the glazes until the base has dried. Finish the lettering and markings last, so that they do not bleed. A smaller scale forgives fewer irregularities, so it pays to sand the surfaces before the paint covers them and to check them against the light.
The manufacturer gives the exact form and the contents of the package on the packaging; the same accessory also comes out in 1:35 and 1:72 scale. Paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
