A mask for spraying the canopy of the CASA C-41A, cut for the kit from Special Hobby.
Responsibility details are not available.
The mask makes the most unpleasant step of finishing the cockpit easier: painting the canopy frames. The individual pieces are stuck to the clear part so that only the area of the frames stays uncovered, and the paint is then sprayed straight over them. That does away with the lengthy measuring and cutting of tape directly on the model and with the risk of the blade slipping and scratching the clear surface. The mask is cut for the canopy of the CASA C-41A from the Special Hobby kit.
First wash the clear part in lukewarm water with a drop of dish soap, let it dry and from then on touch it only by the edges. Lift the pieces of the mask off with the tip of a knife or with tweezers and lay them down dry, without pulling on the edges. Once they are on, press the edges down with a toothpick so that paint does not creep under them. Spray at right angles to the surface and in thin coats; with an oblique spray the paint gets under the edge of the mask. Lift the mask off carefully as soon as the paint has dried, not several days later.
The shapes are cut for the part of one particular kit, so they need not fit a canopy from another maker. The masking set is meant for builders who want sharp, straight frames without hand work with tape. It will also be appreciated by anyone who cannot yet hit a thin line with a brush: through the mask the frame comes out clean even the first time. A more experienced builder saves mainly time, and the more frames the canopy has, the more of it.
The mask alone is supplied. The kit, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
