The decals Colors and Markings of U.S. SBD from Furball Aero-Design belong to models of dive bombers in 1:48.
Responsibility details are not available.
A decal sheet from Furball Aero-Design focused on the American SBD Dauntless dive bombers. Unlike the jet themes from the same brand, this is a machine of the Second World War period, so it suits older and newer kits of this type in 1:48 scale alike.
The Douglas SBD was a two-seat carrier bomber with fixed landing gear and perforated dive brakes that kept the speed within reasonable limits during a dive. The pilot aimed with the whole aircraft while the rear gunner defended the tail. It was the SBDs that decided the Battle of Midway in June 1942, and they served on after more capable types had long overtaken them. The machines wore several finishes in succession, from light prewar gray to two-color blue combinations, and their markings changed practically every year.
The Second World War period means matte surfaces, but decals do not like matte varnish. Spray a gloss intermediate coat only onto the places where the printing will go, then, and once it is dry flatten the whole surface in one go. The perforated brakes call for patience when cleaning out the holes; a hand drill and a look against the light both help. Keep the weathering restrained; service at sea bleached whole areas rather than individual rivets.
These are decals without a kit. Obtain a model and paints separately.
