A limited edition from Eduard in 1:48 scale. The DUAL COMBO designation means that the package contains two complete plastic kits, so two models can be built from one box. Pre-colored photo-etched parts and painting masks are included, along with a choice of ten color options. The combo combines two sub-versions of the real subject: the Kittyhawk Mk.Ia (P-40E) and the Kittyhawk Mk.IV (P-40N).
Kittyhawk was the British and Commonwealth name for the American Curtiss fighters of the P-40 series. The P-40E version corresponds to the designation Mk.Ia and the later P-40N to Mk.IV. These single-seat fighters with a liquid-cooled Allison V12 engine served during the Second World War with the RAF, the RAAF, the RNZAF and the SAAF, above all in North Africa, the Middle East and the Pacific. They stood out as rugged and durable machines suitable for the fighter-bomber role in demanding conditions as well.
It is injection-molded plastic, so glue it with a thinner model cement. The pre-colored photo-etched parts markedly simplify the detail of the cockpit and the enclosed masks make spraying the canopy frames and the color scheme easier. Apply a primer before painting; the desert as well as the Pacific schemes reward an airbrush and later shading and weathering. With two models in the package you can try different camouflage patterns.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
