The instrument panel is the most conspicuous thing in a cabin, and yet in a kit it tends to be only a flat part with suggested engraving. Color elements with a three-dimensional relief replace this surface: the dials have a depth of their own, the needles and scales are readable and color rims come about without painting details a tenth of a millimeter in size. The difference is visible above all on machines with an open or slid-back canopy.
The set is listed for models of the P-40B and P-40C in 1:48 scale and the name names kits from the manufacturers Academy, Airfix, Bronco, Monogram and Revell. Before applying, hold the element against it dry; even out a small difference in the outline by sanding the plastic part, not by cutting the color element.
Before applying, check in the manufacturer's instructions whether the elements are self-adhesive. The application procedure differs between the individual ranges, so follow the instructions that accompany the set; only they are binding. The base has to be dry, degreased and flat. Transfer the element with tweezers or a wooden stick, seat it exactly the first time, because moving it across the surface will mark the color, and press it down with a soft tip. Finish the cabin before you close the fuselage, as you cannot reach the panel afterwards.
The Curtiss P-40 is an American single-seat fighter aircraft of the beginning of World War II. The B and C versions belong to the early series with the Allison V-1710 engine, that is, with a V12, which gave the nose its characteristic elongated shape. It is precisely on these versions that the interior tends to be dark and a color panel stands out on it.
A set of color elements is supplied. The kit of the aircraft, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
