The F-4J is one of the versions of the two-seat McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II carrier fighter. It served with the US Navy and the Marine Corps, and its main armament consisted of guided missiles carried under the fuselage and under the wing; this version had no gun in the fuselage. Machines operating from the decks of aircraft carriers wore conspicuous markings of their air wings and squadrons, so on a model of the Phantom it is precisely the markings that make up a large part of the final impression.
It is a separate marking set in 1:48 scale, that is, an accessory for a model that you already have under construction or finished. The number in the name tells apart the individual sets within the range, each covering a different selection of machines. Which particular aircraft the set contains, what lettering and insignia are on the sheet and where the individual elements belong is described in the instructions included in the package. The order of work follows them as well, and on large areas that matters more than on small markings.
Check the application procedure in the instructions before you start work. The surface should be smooth, dry and degreased, and under elements meant to be soaked a gloss coat of varnish works well, otherwise the edges silver once dry. Cut the elements out with a sharp blade close to the print and apply large areas in sections from the center toward the edges, so that the air is pushed out. The finished model can be given a coat of varnish that evens the edges in with the surrounding finish.
A marking sheet is supplied. The model, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
