Masks for the wooden de Havilland Mosquito FB Mk.VI fighter-bomber in 1:48 scale. One glazing part and one for the marking.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Mosquito in the fighter-bomber version carried four cannon and four machine guns in the nose and bombs or rockets under the wings, and yet it was glued together entirely from plywood and balsa. It was exactly this combination that made it an instrument of precise strikes: the attack on the prison at Amiens and the raids on the secret police buildings in Denmark were flown by machines of this version. The wooden structure moreover freed up the capacity of aircraft factories, because furniture workshops took part in it. The speed of the machine was such that it long managed without defensive armament.
A single part for the glazing, counted for the outside of the bars, and with it one film for the circular marking, both in 1:48 scale. There is no inner mask here; only outer painting is reckoned with on this item. Paints and plastic components are not enclosed. The smaller scope corresponds to how much glazing this airframe has at all.
In a smaller scale the film can no longer be slid across the surface; the adhesive grips at once and repeated lifting tears the edge. Take the part by its inner face with smooth-jawed tweezers, lay one corner exactly against the corner of the frame first and only then put it down like the page of a book. That gives you a single fixed point and the rest lines up by itself. Work over a light-colored surface, so that a small part can be found when it springs out of the tweezers. A few spare minutes for calm preparation pay back more here than elsewhere.
