This set from the SPACE line of the Czech manufacturer Eduard brings 3D-printed decals for the cockpit interior of a Dornier Do 335A model in 1:48 scale. Unlike flat decals, these elements have relief of their own, so once applied the instrument panel and the side panels look like three-dimensional parts, and working with them is still simple: only the backing paper is moistened and the element is lifted off it with tweezers. The package holds an accessory for a kit, not the model itself.
The Dornier Do 335 Pfeil was a twin-engined fighter with an unusual powerplant arrangement: one engine with a tractor propeller in the nose and a second at the tail with a pusher propeller. The A series was the single-seat version. Thanks to the layout of the engines the aircraft had a narrow fuselage and a fairly cramped but well-glazed cockpit, so more of it is visible on a model than you would expect, and interior detail pays off.
The procedure differs from classic waterslide decals; the sheet is not dipped in water. The surface does not have to be glossy, since the decals go into the interior, but it does have to be clean, degreased and smooth. With a sponge and a drop of detergent, moisten only the backing paper, lift the element off it with tweezers and fix it with white PVA glue. Do not use a decal softener or setting solution, which would attack the printed resin and ruin the element; the manufacturer does not recommend super glue. Apply the set before you close the cockpit with the canopy, and once it is dry leave it in peace to cure; the interior is not normally overcoated, so the instruments keep the gloss of their glasses.
The package holds decals only. The model, the paints and the glue are not part of it.
