An AML photo-etched set with belts and gun sights for the Dornier Do 17 and Do 215 in 1:48 scale refines the cockpit equipment of both related bombers.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not a kit but a metal accessory that is fitted into a plastic model you have already bought. The name gives the set as covering two types at once, because both have practically the same cockpit layout. The gain is mainly visual: the seats come alive with belts and the sighting items get the sharp outlines that injection-molded plastic cannot give at this scale.
The Dornier Do 17 earned the nickname the flying pencil for its slim fuselage and was among the first fast bombers Germany fielded in the 1930s. The Do 215 grew out of it as an export version with inline engines, which the German side in the end largely took over; a later form was also used in the night fighter role with a detector in the nose. Both lines share the characteristic glazed nose, in which the crew sat together and had practically all of their equipment within sight.
The cockpit has to be equipped before the fuselage is glued together; once it is closed, there is no getting into it. Attach the metal parts with thin cyanoacrylate glue applied on the tip of a toothpick. Do not try to stretch a belt straight across a seat; it looks more natural when it sags and falls over the edge. Polish the cockpit glazing last of all.
