The set from Aires/Quickboost adds to a Typhoon model something you will see on every apron with real aircraft: covers for the engine intakes. The abbreviation FOD stands for foreign object damage, and it is against that the plugs protect the intake ducts of a parked aircraft. On a model in 1:48 scale the covers also neatly hide the empty intakes under the fuselage. The package is an accessory to a kit; do not look for the aircraft itself in it.
The Eurofighter Typhoon is a twin-engine multirole fighter with a delta wing and canards, developed by a European consortium. It excels in climb and in agility in maneuvering combat and forms the backbone of the air forces of Germany, Britain, Italy and Spain among others, from where the aircraft also fly regularly on NATO alert duties.
Fit the covers only to a finished, painted airframe, so as not to complicate the masking of the intakes. On real aircraft the plugs tend to be a strong red, so that ground crew cannot miss them – the saturated shade becomes a welcome accent of color on an otherwise gray machine. Warning streamers can be added from thin strips of foil.
