The Republic F-105 Thunderchief was an American single-engine fighter-bomber developed after the Second World War. It was among the largest and heaviest machines of its category, had an internal bomb bay and a markedly slender fuselage with a swept wing. It made its name in Southeast Asia, where crews flew strike missions against ground targets in it. In modeling it is a rewarding subject that is worth fitting out with better detail.
This is an add-on set for a model of the F-105 in 1:48 scale. Which assembly of the aircraft the set replaces or supplements is shown in the manufacturer's instructions and in the illustration on the packaging. The set is built for a kit, not for a standalone build.
The parts are not polystyrene, so you will not join them with modeling cement for plastic, but with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Cut excess material away with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the rest off carefully, so as not to damage a surface that is meant to be seen. Wash and degrease the parts before painting and apply a primer, or the paint will not hold. The procedure for fitting them to the model is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The set is intended for modelers who want to take the level of detail on an F-105 model beyond the base kit. Fine-tipped tweezers, fine-grit sanding files and good lighting over the bench will make the work easier. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
