This set of finely cast resin from the Quickboost (Aires) brand brings a correctly shaped ventral fin, that is the lower keel, of the American Republic F-105 Thunderchief supersonic fighter-bomber in 1:48 scale. This tough machine, nicknamed Thud, carried a large ventral fin for directional stability at high speeds; some kits have it inaccurate, and the part replaces it with a faithful rendition.
On the Thunderchief the ventral fin is a prominent item of the tail end, and seen from the side it sets its characteristic silhouette. Replacing the plastic part with a casting with the correct outline and section lifts the fidelity of a model. The casting has sharp edges and a clean shape, which the plastic from the box does not always reach.
