A detail set in resin intended to refine the cockpit of a model of the American Lockheed F-117A Nighthawk attack aircraft in 1:48 scale markedly. It is not an aircraft kit but an accessory that replaces the simplified cockpit from the plastic kit with a more faithfully cast cockpit tub, instrument panel, side consoles and ejection seat. Aires cockpit sets usually also include small photo-etched parts and instrument film. The result is a noticeably more realistic pilot area with the canopy open.
The Lockheed F-117A Nighthawk was the first combat aircraft designed from the outset with the emphasis on low radar observability. Its faceted, angular shape scattered radar waves and its black finish made it an icon of night strikes. The subsonic machine relied on stealth and precision-guided munitions.
First wash the mold release residue off the parts, and only then glue and paint them. Cut the casting blocks off carefully with a saw and sand the cut faces. Glue resin with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue), as ordinary cement for plastic does not hold on resin. Before fitting, the fuselage of the kit usually needs slight adjustment, which is why the set suits more experienced modelers. Sand wet and protect your airways.
