Printed elements for the helmets and the flight gear detail of F-14 crew figures in 1:48 scale, with the insignia of three US Navy squadrons.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Grumman F-14 Tomcat was a two-seat carrier fighter of the US Navy with a variable-geometry wing. In the cockpit sat the pilot and the radar intercept officer, and it is their gear that brings a figure beside a model to life: a helmet with the colored insignia of a squadron and flight gear with bold detail are the first thing a viewer notices on a figure.
These are printed elements for the helmets and for the flight gear detail of crew figures in 1:48 scale. The designations VF-111, VF-41 and VF-1 in the name refer to three US Navy squadrons whose insignia are prepared on the sheet. The exact number of elements, their layout and the size of figure they are dimensioned for are given in the manufacturer's data sheet and instructions.
Paint the whole figure first and let it dry thoroughly; the elements go on over a finished base. The area under them should be smooth and free of grain, or air will be trapped under the element and the edge will lift. Before applying them, check in the manufacturer's instructions how the elements are transferred onto the figure.
It will be appreciated by modelers who build a crew or a carrier deck scene alongside a model and want the figures taken to the same level as the aircraft. The figures, the aircraft model, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise; check the contents of the package in the manufacturer's data sheet.
