Replacement engine exhaust nozzles for an F-15E model in 1:48 scale, in the version with the outer covers for which the term turkey feathers has become established.
Responsibility details are not available.
The F-15E is the two-seat strike version of the F-15 fighter, intended for attacks on ground targets as well as for air combat. The set deals with the exhaust nozzles at the tail of the aircraft, in the version with the outer covers over the segments for which the term turkey feathers has become established. On some machines in service these covers were not fitted, so period photographs show both states.
The nozzles have thin edges and segments rendered both outside and inside, which is a noticeable difference against the parts of an ordinary kit. The tail of the aircraft gains depth that would otherwise have to be laboriously sanded in. The parts are not polystyrene and are bonded with super glue.
Cut off the surplus material with a sharp blade a little away from the part, sand the rest down and level the mating surface so that the nozzles meet the fuselage without a step. Wash and degrease them before painting. Lay the metallic shades down in thin coats, make the interior darker and add heat tinting toward the ends; a light dark wash will bring out the division of the segments. Fit the nozzles as one of the last steps of the build, as they are easily damaged.
The set is for modelers who are building the F-15E in 1:48 scale and want the tail of the aircraft worked out in detail. Check against a photograph of the particular machine whether it had the outer nozzle covers fitted.
The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
