A set of photo-etched parts meant to give the cockpit of the F-16A in 1:48 scale the details that the plastic of a kit cannot manage at this scale. Its place in the photo-etched branch shows that these are photo-etched metal parts supplied on a thin sheet. The version of the aircraft is given in the name as the F-16A Plus.
The F-16 is a single-seat single-engine lightweight fighter, and its cockpit is among the most characteristic there is. The bubble canopy with no front frame gives the pilot a view in every direction, the seat is noticeably reclined so that the pilot takes g better, and instead of a classic center stick the aircraft is flown with a short sidestick by the right hand. That is exactly why a well-made model shows at a glance on an open cockpit, and exactly why it pays to fit it out better than the plastic parts from a kit allow.
It suits builders who leave the cockpit open or fill the model out with a pilot figure. Working with photo-etch calls for a steady hand, tweezers and patience, but the result carries crisp edges and thicknesses that a plastic part does not have.
A set of supplementary parts is supplied. The kit of the aircraft, paints and glue are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
