A replacement exhaust nozzle in the open position for a model of the F-20 Tigershark aircraft in 1:48 scale, according to the name intended for the Freedom Model kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The F-20 Tigershark was a light single-engine fighter aircraft from the firm Northrop, derived from the proven F-5 series. It came about in the 1980s as an offer to foreign users, it flew in only a few prototypes and in the end it never reached production. That is exactly why it is among the subjects modelers favor: it is a machine with clean lines and with a story that ended before it began.
The set replaces the exhaust nozzle of the powerplant, which the name designates as the GE YF404-100, in the version with the petals open. Seen from behind, the nozzle is the most conspicuous spot on the whole model, and the kit part here tends to be a compromise: it has thick walls and lacks depth. The replacement part, by contrast, offers a thinner outline to the opening and a division that is visible without bending down to the display case.
Cut surplus material away with a sharp blade a little clear of the part and carefully sand off the remainder, so that the opening stays circular. Wash and degrease the part before painting, choose the glue according to the material given on the packaging and the particular procedure according to the manufacturer's instructions. The inside of the nozzle deserves a different shade from the surfaces around it: a darker metal base proves itself, with transitions into warmer tones toward the opening and a final accent on the edges with a dry brush. Allow soot and heat marks only as much as suits a machine that has not flown much.
A replacement nozzle is supplied. The kit of the aircraft, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
