Photo-etched accessory parts in 1:48 scale for a model of the American F-22A fighter. Thin metal sheet replaces plastic items that could not be made at the right thickness.
Responsibility details are not available.
The F-22A is an American twin-engine fighter built with low observability in mind. You recognize it by its angular shapes with carefully matched surface angles, by the pair of canted vertical tails and by the armament hidden in internal bays, so that nothing under the wing breaks the outline of the machine. A model of such an aircraft lives on sharp edges and clean surfaces, on which any part that is too thick shows at once.
The set brings accessory parts etched from thin metal sheet. Photo-etch suits exactly those places where injection-molded plastic cannot be thin enough: instrument panels, seat harnesses, covers, grilles, doors and small flat reinforcements. The manufacturer's instructions state the extent of the fret and the kit the set is cut for, so check the match with your own model beforehand.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface; cutters would wave the thin sheet. Level the remainder after separation with a fine file. Make the bends along the etched groove on the back of the part, over a sharp edge or in a bending tool, and make them in one movement. They are glued with cyanoacrylate applied in a tiny amount, best with the tip of a wire. Degrease the metal before painting and cover it with a primer, otherwise the paint will not hold on the smooth surface and will rub off during handling.
The model, glue and paints are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
