It is neither a model nor a photo-etched set but what are called 3D decals: color decals with a layer that carries relief, so that the instrument panel and the side consoles in the cockpit look three-dimensional. They are applied with water like an ordinary decal, only they are stuck straight onto the plastic cockpit parts. The set is cut for the Kitty Hawk kit; the brand also makes an identically named variant for another manufacturer's kit, so watch the brand of your own kit when ordering. Check the actual list of parts in the set on the box.
The Lockheed Martin F-35A Lightning II is a single-seat, single-engine fifth-generation combat aircraft in the land-based variant with conventional takeoff and landing. The cockpit is interesting for a modeler because one large touchscreen has replaced the conventional instruments, so the interior looks different from that of older machines. An interior like that is rendered more convincingly by a color decal than by hand painting.
Paint the plastic part under the decal a dark shade and go over it with gloss varnish. Relief decals are thicker than ordinary ones, so soak them longer and move them into place carefully, so that the edge of the relief does not break. A greater amount of softener and gentle pressing with a cotton bud will help. Let them dry for several hours and only then go over them with matte or semi-gloss varnish, depending on which surfaces are to stay glossy. Leave the displays and screens glossy, so they look like glass.
