The set contains landing gear wheels cast in resin and is intended to replace the plastic parts from the base kit. It is not a model of the aircraft. The qualifier in the name matters: the set belongs to the A variant, that is the version with conventional takeoff and landing. Armory offers wheels for the B and C versions as separate items, because the landing gear of the individual variants differs, and a mix-up is the most common mistake that leaves a set unusable in the end.
The F-35 Lightning II is a single-engined multi-role combat aircraft built in three variants, which differ in the way they take off and land and in the corresponding structure. The A version is the land-based variant intended for air forces and has the simplest landing gear of the three; the short-takeoff and vertical-landing version and the version for operation from aircraft carriers have different dimensions and strengthening. The landing gear wheels are therefore not interchangeable between the variants.
Wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water and let them dry. Cut off the casting blocks and level the seating surface on sanding paper laid on a flat board: only that way will a truly flat patch arise and the model will not rock on its landing gear. Glue the wheels with cyanoacrylate. On modern aircraft it pays to leave the tire fairly clean and to concentrate the dirt only around the hub and on the brake section; excessive dusting looks out of place on current hardware. Separate the hub with a mask, not with a hand-drawn line.
The set is an accessory to a model, not a kit of the aircraft. It is supplied unpainted; paints, glue and the base model are not included in the package.
