F-35A LööK, a 1:48 instrument panel from Eduard

The LööK line from Eduard addresses a single but very visible node of a model: the instrument panel. The part arrives already in color, with crisply legible displays and labels, so the modeler avoids microscopic painting in the cockpit. The set is intended for a model of the F-35A in 1:48 scale, that is for the variant with conventional takeoff and landing from a runway. And on a modern aircraft the cockpit is the main carrier of detail, because the surface of the airframe is smooth and austere.

Where the set belongs

It is not a kit and not a complete interior set. It is a targeted add-on fitted in place of the part from the kit. On modern machines the instrument panel consists of a large-area display whose faithful rendering with a brush is demanding, and that is exactly where a pre-painted part pays off most. Installation tips

• Try the part dry first and only then modify the plastic of the kit.
• Thin down or remove the original part if necessary, so that the new panel sits at the correct level.
• Glue in spots and gently. Solvent cement for plastic may damage the pre-painted surface; super glue in a small amount or glue for clear parts is more reliable.
• Do not touch the surface with your fingers and protect it from sanding dust; the paint on it is already finished.
• Fit the cockpit glazing at the very end, so that no dirt gets inside.
