This item is not an aircraft kit. It is a separate resin accessory from the manufacturer CMK, which completes an already built model of the F-4B Phantom II fighter in 1:48 scale with a boarding ladder. The set is cut for a particular kit and we recommend verifying before purchase that it matches the model you are building. The manufacturer prepared it for the Tamiya kit.

What the accessory is for

The boarding ladder is part of the ground equipment, without which no realistic scene with a standing machine can do when an aircraft is displayed. Resin castings hold sharper detail than injection-molded plastic, so the steps, the handles and the attachment to the fuselage all stand out. The accessory makes sense above all on models with an open cockpit, or else as the completion of a diorama scene with ground personnel.

Use and building tips

First wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water, so that the remains of the mold release agent are removed from the surface, otherwise the paint will not hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutting disc and level the area with a file; protect your airways when sanding resin and work with extraction or wet. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue), because ordinary cement for polystyrene will not join resin. Check the thinnest parts against the light to see whether they are deformed, and if need be warm them briefly in hot water and straighten them. Apply a primer before painting, then the main shade, and bring the details up with a wash, which runs into the recesses. We recommend gluing it to the model only once the paint on both parts is finished.
