The McDonnell Douglas F-4J Phantom II is the naval version of a two-seat supersonic machine that became one of the most widespread combat aircraft of its day. It served as a fighter and as a strike aircraft and was literally packed with electronics, which the technicians reached through hinged panels along the sides of the fuselage. Those very compartments are full of instrument blocks, connectors and bundles of cable on the real aircraft and tend to be open during maintenance, which makes them a rewarding subject for dioramas and for models on a stand.
First wash the castings in lukewarm water with detergent, otherwise the paint will not hold on the traces of release agent. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw and level the surfaces by sanding wet with your airways protected. The opening in the fuselage of the model has to be cut out, so work slowly and rather in several passes, dry-fitting as you go. Resin is glued with super glue, that is cyanoacrylate. The interior is best painted with a basic light color, after which the instrument blocks are set off with metal and dark shades and the whole is picked out with a dark wash and a light dry brush so that the structure of the wiring stands out.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
