A resin detail set, not a model of the airplane. The set faithfully casts the open electronics, or avionics, bay of the carrier-borne fighter the F-4J Phantom II in its late form. The bay can be opened up on the model and displayed with a well worked interior full of instrument boxes and wiring. The set is intended for kits of this Phantom in 1:48 scale and pushes the detail markedly above the level of the plastic out of the box.
The F-4 Phantom II was an American two-seat twin-engined supersonic fighter and multirole aircraft. The J version served with the US Navy and the US Marine Corps as an interceptor with a powerful radar and missile armament. The Phantom is among the icons of Cold War aviation and became famous for its deployment over southeast Asia as well.
First wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water and rid them of mold release residue. Cut the casting blocks off carefully with a saw and level the surfaces; wear a respirator when sanding resin, as the dust is harmful to health. They are glued with super glue (cyanoacrylate), not with ordinary cement for plastic. Apply a base primer before painting.
