A set of photo-etched parts in 1:48 scale for a model of the F-86A Sabre fighter. It adds fineness to a model where a plastic part has to be thicker.
Responsibility details are not available.
The North American F-86 Sabre was an American jet fighter with a swept wing, and the F-86A version stood at the beginning of its service career. It was precisely these machines that got into the fighting over Korea and became the symbol of the first generation of jet combat. The Sabre remains a popular modeling subject to this day thanks to its clean shapes and varied markings.
The set is made up of photo-etched metal parts in 1:48 scale. Photo-etch is made by etching an outline out of thin metal sheet, so it has a thickness that cannot be achieved on a plastic part. The individual elements are held on the carrier sheet by thin tabs and are separated only just before fitting.
Separate the part with a sharp blade braced against a hard surface rather than with pliers, so that it does not distort. Make the bends in a bender or between two blades exactly along the marked line. For gluing, reach for cyanoacrylate glue applied with a pin; on larger areas a slower gel version is useful, as it lets you still align the part.
Degrease the metal before painting and spray it with a primer, otherwise the shade is easily rubbed off a smooth surface. Try the fit dry while the part can still be taken off, and only then apply the glue.
The set is for a modeler who already feels up to photo-etch and wants to take their Sabre beyond the contents of the box. The model, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
