A bundled package of the Big Ed range from the Czech manufacturer Eduard, put together for a model of the North American F-86F-40 Sabre in 1:48 scale. Big Ed brings together several of its separately sold accessory sets for one particular model in a single package. It is not a kit of the aircraft; you obtain the base model separately. On the Sabre the accessories come into their own mainly in the cockpit, on the ejection seat, in the landing gear bays and on the airbrakes.
The F-86 Sabre is a first generation American jet fighter with a swept wing that made its name in the Korean War. The late F-40 version received an extended wing with a leading-edge slat, which improved handling at low speeds and on landing. The Sabre in this form served with foreign users as well and it was built under license in Japan, so it offers a wide palette of color schemes from polished bare-metal airframes to camouflaged machines.
Cut the photo-etched sheet off the fret with a sharp knife against a hard surface and then level the cut with a fine file; an unfinished tab shows even after painting. Make the bends over a metal edge or in a bending tool so that they are straight. Do not sand color-printed parts and do not use strong thinners on them. They are glued with super glue in tiny drops. On a Sabre with a polished metal surface the rule is that the base has to be perfectly smooth: every photo-etched part left unfinished and every trace of glue is accentuated under a metallic paint, so check the surface carefully before spraying.
The bundle is an accessory, not a kit of the aircraft. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
