An injection-molded plastic kit of the American carrier-borne fighter Vought F-8E Crusader in 1:48 scale from Hasegawa. It is a limited edition with striking decals of the famous US Navy Sundowners squadron. The kit lets you build this supersonic machine with its characteristic variable-incidence wing.
The F-8 Crusader was a single-engine supersonic carrier fighter of the US Navy and the Marine Corps. It was known for the variable-incidence wing, which raised the angle of attack on takeoff and landing aboard a carrier, and for its heavy gun armament, which earned it the nickname last of the gunfighters. The F-8E version was among the most capable in combat and proved itself in air fighting over Vietnam.
Finish the detailed cockpit before you close the fuselage; the canopy can be built open. Protect the glazing with masking and glue the clear parts with cement for clear parts. Use thin modeling cement on the plastic. Apply a primer before painting; the bold colors and the Sundowners squadron decals come out best over a gloss coat. Fit the pylons and stores only after the paintwork is done.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
