The set brings colored, three-dimensionally raised cockpit details for models of the F6F-5N Hellcat carrier fighter in 1:48 scale. They are 3D decals printed on a carrier decal paper, not a photo-etched set or cast resin. The instrument panel, the side consoles and other panels have recessed dials, raised levers, knobs and colored labels. The target kit is Eduard.
The F6F Hellcat was a rugged American carrier fighter that became the mainstay of naval aviation in the Pacific. The night version F6F-5N carried a radar in a pod on the wing and revised equipment for fighting in the dark, which made it one of the first effective night fighters of the US Navy.
Go over the surface under the decal with gloss varnish (Future, Klear or Tamiya X-22) and let it dry. Cut the element out, soak it in lukewarm water for about fifteen seconds and slide it off the paper into place in the cockpit. It has no adhesive layer of its own and holds on gloss varnish; on uneven shapes a drop of cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) helps. Do not use decal softener or setting solution, as they would damage the printed resin. Build the layers up as the instructions say.
This is an accessory for detailing, not a stand-alone model. Paints, glue and the base kit are not included in the package.
