Quickboost 1:48 F7F Tigercat Engines is a resin set of two radial engines that replaces the simplified powerplants in the plastic kit of this twin-engine fighter.
Responsibility details are not available.
This resin set from Quickboost, a brand of the Czech maker Aires, brings a pair of faithfully cast radial engines for a model of the twin-engine Grumman F7F Tigercat fighter in 1:48 scale. It is not an airplane model but a detail accessory for more experienced modelers, replacing the coarser plastic parts with a sharp casting that shows fine cylinder finning and ignition harness.
The Grumman F7F Tigercat was an American twin-engine carrier fighter from the very end of the Second World War. It was powered by a pair of powerful Pratt and Whitney R-2800 radial engines, which made it one of the fastest piston aircraft of its day. It saw practically no combat in the Second World War, but it proved itself in postwar service and in the night-fighter and attack roles during the Korean War.
First wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water to remove mold release residue. Cut off the casting blocks with a saw and sand the cut surfaces with respiratory protection. Bond the parts with super glue (cyanoacrylate), not with plastic cement. Test the fit dry before painting, as resin may need a little cleaning up.
The set is supplied as a resin part, unassembled and unpainted. It is not an airplane model but an accessory for a plastic kit. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
