This is not an aircraft kit but a resin set of underwing armament in 1:48 scale. The package contains two unguided aerial bombs of the 500 kg class of an older design pattern, as carried by the attack and tactical aircraft of the Sukhoi line named in the title. The castings have a smooth body with no parting seam and fine fins, which injection-molded plastic manages only with difficulty.
The FAB-500M-54 is a Soviet unguided aerial bomb of the 500 kg weight class, of a design pattern from the 1950s. Compared with later models it has a stubbier body with a lower fineness ratio and a different arrangement of fins, so it is recognizable from the newer types at first glance. This type stayed in service long after newer bombs were introduced, among other reasons because it could be carried on a wide range of racks. What interests modelers above all is accuracy of shape and the right combination with a particular type of rack.
Wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water because of the mold release agent. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw and level the surface wet and with respiratory protection. It is bonded with super glue, and for hanging on a pylon a small wire pin that strengthens the joint helps. Painting tends to be simple: a base shade, a fine distinction between the body and the fins, a discreet wash into the seams and light rub-through. Always leave the stores a little less worn than the airframe; it looks more convincing.
The set contains resin accessory parts only. The kit, paints, glue and decals are not included in the package.
