A figure base – a male figure in 1:48 scale is a small accessory for figures, which serves as the starting part for building or modifying a figure of your own for a diorama.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a small modeling accessory for figures, not a kit on its own. It offers the base of a male figure in 1:48 scale, on which a modeler builds or modifies a figure according to the scene he is building. For figures the 1:48 scale is unusually fine – a standing adult figure measures roughly thirty-seven millimeters, so it is a miniature casting with small areas and a fine relief.
It will be used mainly by builders of dioramas and vignettes for whom the poses and dress from an ordinary figure kit are not enough. Heads, hands, footwear and headgear are sold in this range as separate accessories, so they can be combined and exchanged with one another. Check the exact contents of the package and the number of pieces on the packaging.
First cut the part off the casting block with a fine-toothed saw, level the cut and clean the parting line up with fine sandpaper. Before gluing, wash the casting in lukewarm water with a drop of detergent and let it dry – residues of the release agent from the mold prevent the paint from adhering. Super glue joins small parts most reliably. A thin layer of filler or primer follows, which unifies the surface and accentuates the modeling; only then do the shadows and highlights come in turn. At such a small scale a magnifier, a fine brush and paints thinned for several thin layers pay off.
This is an accessory for figures, not a kit on its own. Paints, glue and further parts are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
