FM-2 Wildcat LööK 1:48 is a finished Eduard instrument panel for models of the carrier fighter. The relief rendering replaces painting the dials by hand.
Responsibility details are not available.
This item is not a kit but a finished instrument panel in 1:48 scale from the LööK line of the Czech manufacturer Eduard. It is set into the cockpit of a model of the FM-2 Wildcat carrier fighter in place of the original plastic part. The panel arrives in raised relief and in a finished color rendering, so you do not have to paint the individual dials or their bezels by hand. The number of layers in the set and the rest of the contents of the package are not stated here.
The FM-2 Wildcat was a lightened version of the Grumman Wildcat carrier fighter, built in the United States by General Motors. It differs from the earlier configurations in having a single-row Wright R-1820 Cyclone radial engine instead of the two-row R-1830 and a conspicuously taller fin, which balances the greater torque. The machine was designed for operating from the short decks of escort carriers, where larger and heavier types did not have enough room.
Always start with a dry fit. Depending on the particular kit, the original plastic panel usually has to be thinned or removed, so that the new panel sits at the correct depth and does not prevent the cockpit canopy from closing. Glue in spots with super glue or with glue for photo-etched parts. Do not paint over the finished surface of the panel. If you want to knock the sheen back, reach for a fine flat overcoat and rather leave the faces of the dials out.
